Hi friends,
As we journey together heaven ward, I want to join my
voice with saint Luke to echo this most re-assuring statement where he said in
Luke 1:37
‘for with God nothing shall be impossible’.
Men fail, situations
disappoint and self can even disappoint but not this our God. I wish to share
this beautiful testimony to encourage you my fellow pilgrim if peradventure God
will use it to strengthen your faith at this very crucial time. Always remember that
if there is a man to pray, there is a GOD
to answer!
So very many years ago when I had just gotten married,
we were just starting off family life and comfortable. We had two kids, a thriving
business and I had a good job. My pay was not so big but it was good enough to
support my hussy in keeping the home front. We were able to put our two kids in
a good school since my husband and I had always wanted our two children to be better than we
were, so we wanted to give them the best education we could afford. Before a
new section begins, Dave would calculate the children’s fees and give them
to me to keep to avoid the embarrassment of the kids being made to stay home
because school fees payment was defaulted. We could afford to go for outings and
picnics. sometimes we invited friends over to our home and all things went well
until a particular year when there was great economic depression. Dave’s
business was first hard hit. We thought my job and our savings could keep us
until the economy picks up but the famine lasted more than we thought. Our
organization could no longer afford to pay our salaries. We were owed for
several months and finally laid off because the management could not afford to
keep going. All attempts to get a job by Dave proved abortive. As at this time the children’s fees was a big
problem. We could not afford to pay for our three bedroom bungalow in serene
area of the city where we lived. We had
to move to a smaller apartment in another area of the town where it was a lot more
economical . The children would ask for snacks and to be taken out like as at
before , many times I had to quickly distract them so Dave would not think he
had failed as a father. At this time he was already getting frustrated and would sleep short sleeps at night and spend most of the time thinking. He would suddenly
come up with a beautiful business idea but along the line it will fail because
of poor funding. our friends and relations seems to keep a distance since they
too were struggling to survive while those who could still keep their head
above were not ready to support or were tired of giving us regular support. Too
many times Dave and I could not just explain how we would get ourselves out of this
predicament but we kept holding on God though we knew little about Him. Truly we were born- again but not very serious with our faith.
When all we tried failed us and I could no longer bear
the pain of seeing my beloved husband and family torn apart I became serious
with spiritual things. I was so committed in church that pastor became a
regular caller at our home. Each time he meets Dave home he would encourage him
and pray with us. I would spend hours praying in the night and sometimes Dave
will be forced to join me. Beloved, that was the beginning of our breakthroughs!
Church members were always bringing one support or the other. Our business
proposals were getting funded though we were not very comfortable yet. When the
children’s school management starts threatening to send them home, a call would come from a
friend or relation we have not seen for long asking for our bank details to send money
for the children. Too many times, that amount would just be exactly what we need to pay
their fees.
Since , I became committed to God, I have found solace
and comfort in Christ Jesus while God is putting us together again. Thank God
for the power in prayer. Indeed our God is good and He still answers all prayers!
Stay prayerful and focused as we travel this strait and
narrow way together. you have come too far to give up now!
Yours in the kingdom Race,
Pastor Janet Abenga.
