May I remind us that there are too many things we take for granted as we journey to our Canaan and assume that our God does not care but we forget too often times that He even numbered the strands of hair on every human head. As many as our population worldwide is! It was in trying to make us understand this that He told us that without Him we can do nothing. It was in an attempt to show how much they realized their insufficiency without Jesus that the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray.
In that same perspective I will be sharing with us one of my poems written about two and half decades ago titled "Teach me to pray".That God you will teach me:
That activity of righteous men;
Of being the man you are seeking after,
Who will watch and give you no rest,
The very mystic art of prayer!
Oh, Lord I covet to learn;
Not how to but to pray,
With fervency and a burden for this perverse generation,
With the fire of your spirit and the power of your word,
Lord , teach me the perseverance and the ceaselessness of fruitful praying!
If that is your heart cry as much as it is mine, then Almighty God is raising us up as a great and mighty army for Himself. I trust that our Journey homeward shall be smoother and swifter on the wings of prayer.
