Hi friends,
As our earthly sojourn gradually comes to an end and eternity
gets closer and closer, we cannot but imbibe the attitude of blessing God at
all times. The Psalmist had several reasons why he was able to say ‘Blessed be
God’
In Psalms 68:19
He says, Blessed be Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of
our salvation.
He was
practically blessing God for His benevolence over His handiworks.
To bless
simply means, to call holy, beatified,
adored, enthroned, consecrated, redeemed, resurrected, revered.
By
implication, we owe God the responsibility to call Him holy, honored, adored e.t.c
on a daily and regular basis. We are
duty bound to call God blessed at all times and in every way.
Psalms 144:1,
he further said, Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my
fingers to fight.
The Psalmist
further hit another very cogent point here wherein he acknowledged God as the source
of all his victories, successes and accolades.
All of life’s victory is never a function of one’s ability or know how but divine assistance which he clearly stated above. When the Almighty God is your teacher, He does not only reveal the adversaries weakness but takes over the battle.
On this eternal high way, we are encumbered by battles from
both seen and unseen forces. The adversary of our soul is never weary trying to
make us loose our eternal home by engaging us in tireless battles.
He is a life-long enemy of the pilgrim which can only be conquered as one is helped by Jehovah Saboath – the valiant man of war. The Lord knows
all his wiles, schemes and devices. He is a sworn enemy of the believer who
must not be taken with levity.
The flesh is never left out of the struggles and fights. Fellow
humans who yield themselves to the enemy also engage us in endless strives and
oppositions. If we ever want to succeed, we cannot but say, ‘Blessed be this
mighty God!’
The Psalmist who was named a man after God’s heart further
submits that he would bless the Lord at all times and His praise shall
continually be on his lips. What is your own submission at a time such as this?
As you call God blessed, you invite Him to take over all your
affairs and as you surrender all to Him in worship, He grants you a resounding
victory. You are destined for victory as you remain in Christ.
Stay blessed until we meet at the golden city of the New Jerusalem.
Your friend
and fellow pilgrim in the race,
Pastor Janet
