You Shall not Lack

Hi Friends,

It is not uncommon to encounter times of lack and want on the journey heavenward because it is a long narrow route, that is not an easy road.

The Psalmist in Psalms 34:10 said;

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.

This scripture made a comparison between God’s children and the lion’s cub and said in spite of the strength and vigor of the lioness and the lion, despite of it being the king of all animals and well dreaded in the animal kingdom, their cub which is the young lion may still lack but they who seek the Lord Jesus Christ in truth and in spirit shall not lack any good thing.

This does not in any way exonerate the pilgrim from the present global economic meltdown neither did it say God was going to rain manna from heaven like the days of old but what it means is that Jehovah Jireh who is the Lord of the way will always make a way for God’s children to have all their needs met.

As if this was not enough assurance, the Psalmist further affirms that, I was young and now I am old, I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread.

All of man’s labor and toil is to provide for his needs most especially the physiological needs as stated by Abraham Maslow hierarchy of needs as food, shelter, clothing etc. But because man is never satisfied even after these basic needs are met, he still goes further to struggle for the esteem and self-actualization needs.

Whether they are basic or higher needs, it makes little or no difference to the Almighty God who owns all things including the cattle upon a thousand hills, He has given this promise that those who seek Him shall not lack any good thing.

I do not know what is your classification of good things, but the Bible says you shall never lack it if you are truly a God seeker. How well and how often do you seek God? Do you really seek Him truly and earnestly? He has promised that those who seek Him early would find Him.

 Do you seek Him with all your totality and being in the place of prayer, fasting and studying the Word? Do you seek Him by your life and conduct? Do you seek Him when He may be found or as an option to your weariness after much struggles?

Seeking God earnestly, sincerely and truly is your antidote to lack and want on this eternal highway. Make haste now to seek him more and more till we have a safe landing on the eternal shores. God bless your precious soul!

Your friend and fellow pilgrim in the Kingdom Race,

Pastor Janet
