Hi friends,
The journey heaven ward could be quite challenging and
toilsome so much so that there is a possibility for the pilgrim to want to give
up both on God and on himself.
The constant attacks from the devil and his cohorts either
spiritually or physically through human channels or situations around his life.
Where does the pilgrim get succor from these attacks?
It is in a bid to give an assurance to the believer that our
Lord Jesus Christ came to defeat the enemy of man’s soul. He did not just stop
there, He also made every provision for all that man would ever need to succeed
on this kingdom Highway.
He further made infallible promises which are referred to as
covenants. Men disappoint men when promises are made. A writer once referred to
cheques as promissory notes implying that it could even fail!
The Bible says that by two immutable things, it is impossible
for God to lie. I believe it is with this understanding that the Psalmist while
faced with life’s battles began to remind God to have respect to the covenant.
The implications of this is that he had gotten to his wits
end from being embattled by the devil and his cohorts. There is also a great
possibility that situations around him have failed him woefully.
I could only imagine the pain and agony with which he shouted
out in Psalms 74: 20
Have
respect unto the covenant: for the dark
places of the earth
are
full of the habitation of cruelty.
There is a hierarchy in the kingdom of darkness where the
scripture refers to as ‘wickedness in high places’ at this level of demonic
activity there is no provision for mercy or retreat. It is a fight to finish.
Is that where you have found yourself as a pilgrim on the Christian High?
If yes, all you need do is to remind God of His unfailing promises
that are ever sure and true. All you need my fellow pilgrim is to fulfill your
own part of the deal which is your covenant obligation as a covenantee and
allow God as the covenantor prove His own part of deal by having respect to the
covenant.
Our God is a covenant keeping and watches over every of His
utterances to bring them to pass. His covenant with us by the precious blood of
His son Jesus Christ is infallible.
Are you at the verge of throwing in the towel? No, not yet
brother, remind God of His covenant. Are you weary and there seem to be no any
form of relieve within sight? The promise keeper says come unto me, all ye that
labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.
Are you so troubled in your inner mind that all that the
enemy of your soul is displaying before you is to end it all? Remember He
promised you ‘Call upon me in the days of trouble and I will answer you and
show you great and mighty things, that you know not’.(paraphrased)
‘Hmmm, the all knowing God I bow in awe of your Lordship and
supremacy’. He is seated in the heavens yet He rules in the affairs of
men. All power and supremacy belongs to
God!
His all seeing eyes are upon the righteous to deliver them
and prove His omnipotence. I am so privileged to have you – God as my father,
lover and friend. If He loved us so much that He gave His only begotten son for
us, what will He not give us also?
Hold on just a little longer. He is coming through for you. Don’t
give up now, because you have come too far to go back. He has not lifted you up
to let you down. He is only a prayer away.
Always remember this, Quitters don’t win and winners don’t quit!!
See you at the eternal shores where there will be no more
weeping. No more sorrow. No more
sighing. Where we will sing the victory song of the saints and receive a grand
welcome home from the Lord of the way Himself. You cannot afford to miss out.
Can you??
Your friend and fellow pilgrim in the Kingdom Race,
Pastor Janet
