Hi friends,
It is high time we further remind
ourselves that life is short lived and that sooner or later we shall be on our
way back to our eternal home. Then what account shall we give to the owner of
this life of ours at that fateful gathering when the whole of heaven and earth
shall be gathered to bear witness?
There is the general believe that
the earth is a globe hence it is referred to as a global village. Kudos to the
world of technology but much more than that I will want to call our attention
to the fact that life itself is a globe!
Times and times again you meet
people, part with them and travel so far away only to meet again. Too many
times you go through a situation in life and come out of it and you believe
that is the end only to encounter it again. Life is indeed a globe!
The book of Isaiah 40:22-24 says,
It
is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the
inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that
stretcheth
out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out
as
a tent to dwell in: That bringeth the princes to
nothing;
he maketh the
judges of the earth as vanity. Yea,
they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be
sown:
yea, their
stock shall not take root in the earth: and
he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither,
and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
From the above scriptures, whether you see the earth as a globe or life
as a globe God Almighty is the one who sits at the center of it all and rules
in His might, power and supremacy. So that in everything, He alone might take
for Himself the glory.
About twenty or more years ago, I
lived in the north-eastern part of my country where I met this elderly man who
was just sold out to God not minding his age. I must admit the old man was too
zealous for his age!
He had so much material resources yet it meant little or nothing to him.
He had a heart that was childlike and was willing to condescend to men of low
estates. He was like another Tabitha and Cornelius of our time.
He would personally call anyone he noticed was getting discouraged in the
church and identified with their challenges. He would give fatherly counsel and
administer financial and material assistance.
Then I had to relocate from there to another part of the country and
thought that we would never meet again but my divine providence, I learnt that
this kind hearted man had relocated to the same vicinity I was about ten years
later.
I thought he would have changed and become so sentimental like most of
the other Christians based in that community so I would have to be careful how
I now relate to him and his family, I thought to myself. Little did I know that
I was mistaken.
On that fateful Christmas day, about four years ago I paid the family a
visit. I was so embarrassed with the hospitality, generosity and warmth with
which this elderly couple received me.
My little baby was shared with so much financial gift from both mummy and
daddy (As they are fondly called). After
that visit, I stayed away for a long time but called occasionally to greet.
To my dismay, I was called by a very senior friend to be informed that
our beloved had passed on to glory three months earlier. It was a big blow!
I attended the wake keep and met with hundreds of people we lived together
in that same city twenty years earlier. It was like another reunion service.
Who would have thought that Pastor (Dr.) CV Ufuani would pass on so soon?
Who would have known that he went through all the health crises he experienced
before passing onto glory? Who would have believed that this icon of love and
compassion has gone to the world of no return?
It was indeed a great lesson for me as I saw the multitudes who came to
honor daddy at his last hour. Please, let us live our lives being true to God,
to ourselves and to humanity.
Today you are here but someday you will be gone and what shall we
remember you for? Rest on in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ till we meet to
part no more. Adieu daddy! Adieu Pastor!! Adieu doctor!!!
Beloved, Stay forever blessed and rapturable till we meet at the eternal
shores.
Your friend and fellow in the Kingdom Race,
Pastor Janet
