Patience is a virtue

Hi friends,
I encountered a very charismatic middle aged lady sometime ago. It was in a business premises and another lady who claimed to have known her in church had already given a very wonderful recommendation about her. Yours sincerely, my small gullible mind was already falling in love with this "woman of God" until I saw the other side of her.I was extremely disappointed!

I was an eye witness of what transpired  between her and a typist very close to my business premises. She had given a document out to this typist who for the whole day was at it doing her best but when this woman pastor came back and saw the job uncompleted she flared up and started shouting at the top of her voice raining abuses on the innocent young lady who explained that she had just a page more to complete the woman's job but this charismatic woman would not even listen to her nor accept her apologies and would not even accept the work.

As i ruminate over the cruel treatment from a woman I had admired so much a very short while ago. I could not but ask myself. What is this world turning into? Does this true life story ring any bell at all? where have we Christians who are supposed to be Christ-like thrown this virtue of patience? This very precious fruit of the spirit is completely eroded from many of our dictionaries. We are not patient with fellow men nor with God. Every thing has to be instanta. Instant answers to prayers, instant miracles, instant noodles, instant job deliveries and so on. The list is inexhaustible!

The Bible said " we need patience to obtain God's promises after we have done the will of God(paraphrased)".

Just like this charismatic woman who had missed her desired result- a soul (if she was meant to win the typist for Christ) and an admirer and follower in me for an outburst in anger, so also we loose much more than we can recount when we refuse to allow this precious fruit of God's Holy Spirit to manifest in us. Too many times, God allows us pass through difficult times to teach us a lesson on patience but how many of us truly learn and take it to heart?

Patience is a virtue we cannot do without on our journey Heaven ward. Please, learn to wait on God and be patient with your fellow humans when the need arises. May we not miss our eternal home and Heavenly reward because of impatience in Jesus mighty name.

Your friend in the Kingdom Race,
Pastor Janet.
