Hi friends,
It’s another season of yuletide as celebration
of the birth of Christ is being commemorated worldwide. The global trend seems
to present a lot of challenges which seems overwhelming that I cannot but remind
us of what the weeping prophet said amidst his tears so that our trust in this
all sovereign God who is the reason for the season does not fail.
Amidst all the so many troubles
encountered by Prophet Jeremiah he made a loud proclamation about God’s great
and unfailing love alone which should be the reason for this festive season. In the book Lamentation
3:22- 23, the scripture records;
Because of the Lord’s great love we
are not consumed, for His compassion never fails. They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness (NIV)
God is love and to prove His love to
all humanity He sent His only begotten son to this world of sorrows and shame
to die in the place of mankind. It is with this reality at the back of our mind
that our celebrations will carry its due meaning and purpose.
It is because of this great and
unfailing love that you have not being consumed on this kingdom highway. Your times
and seasons are even in His hands that is why you cannot but trust in this
great and compassionate God.
He feels your pain and anguish. Little
wonder, the angel of His presence bears us up in their hands so that in our
affliction He too is afflicted. He is that great high priest who is able to succor
us each time we are tempted on this highway so that we are not consumed.
He is reminding us once again that the
only reason He sent Jesus Christ into the world is for your victory over the devil
and the troubles in the world, it is for your joy so that you might know that the
Lord of the way has paid the ultimate price and your prosperity irrespective of
the global economy trend.
Without any iota of doubt like the prophet
you cannot but celebrate the faithfulness of this awesome God at a season such
as this. Your celebration should be marked with sobriety since we are pilgrims
on this side of eternity.
Celebrations are for victorious
pilgrim like I and you even if our victory seems not to visible yet but remember that the
ultimate victory of every pilgrim is when we are able to receive that warm
welcome from the Lord Jesus Christ as we testify of our pilgrimage.
Keeping celebrating and rejoicing
in God’s unfailing love until we meet at the eternal shores of the golden city.
Your friend and fellow pilgrim in
the kingdom race,
Pastor Janet.
