A friend that sticks closer than a brother!

Hi friends,

If there is any thing every normal human being desires, it is companionship because man is created to be a social being and thus every one craves for companionship!

It is with this in mind that God came down from heaven in the cool of the evening to fellowship with man even in the Garden of Eden, despite giving man a woman to take away his loneliness.

In spite of all these provisions and man’s rebellion against God, man has never stopped being a social being. At various points and seasons in his life, every man still has need for companionship!

Much more than his need for company is his need for friendship. Somebody who will think and reason like him. Come down to his level and appreciate him in every sphere of life. Somebody who truly feels his pain and shares his joy- A TRUE FRIEND!

The Bible tell us something very interesting in Proverbs 18:24, I will like to quote from both the King James Version and New International Version to drive home my point.

A man of many companions may come to ruin,

but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother (NIV)

Here the word of God makes it explicitly clear that despite the fact that his social needs might be met in companionship, his many companions might bring him to ruin if God does not help him.

Although in the midst of all companions, there is a friend who will always be there for you!

I want to also quote from the KJV which says

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly:

and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother(KJV)

Here we are told that a friendly man tends to have more friends or a man must be friendly to have enough friends but in the midst of all these, there is just a friend that will remain with you in the midst of all circumstances of life.

It is only Jesus Christ our Lord and savior that this description fits. He does not fail or deny His own. He is not a fair weather friend like other earthly friends. He is not like some family relations or acquaintances who will deny/renounce you in your darkest hour.

The ever true friend you need on this Kingdom Highway is JESUS CHRIST. He is the ever true and faithful companion who has and can and even will lay down His life for you. Allow Him to be Lord of all and you will never miss the way to your eternal home.
